THE BRIGHTEST DARKNESS

James Sonic storytelling, this is the best way for me to describe this album. No it’s not a 2 minute listen. It’s a sit down, close your eyes and lose yourself experience. It’s about as honest as your going to get. Luna is laying it all out there through thoughtful composition, atmospheric renditions of thoughts. It’s abstract nature is still focused to make its point. The drone and Dream Pop nature is balanced amazingly well to convey each songs meaning, yet it’s open, for your own interpretation. The DIY aspect is amazing, though you wouldn’t know it as each tracks detail are levels above. If you want to get behind an artist giving it her all and delivering something beautiful and rich, Luna Arakawa is someone to get behind. “Invasion Of The Lights” is a welcomed invasion of Luna, the piano play and percussions will dance in your head something wonderful. “Less hopeless, less loveless, more forevermore” will having you hoping for the best as well. The droniness will pull you along to have faith, and see the light. The highs will guide you along. “Housepital-tears shed at 11pm” has a sense of intimacy through a sonic vocabulary that makes Luna’s work one of a kind. “My survival mantra” is an artist letting you in very close, in a way, most artist do not. Those are just a few of my favorites, but I encourage you to explore this album, as it is something special and beautiful. Favorite track: invasion of the LIGHTS.
